19-year-old Texas man kills pregnant sister after being embarrassed by her

DALLAS, TX. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY, NBC)- A Texas man is facing capital murder after killing his sister who was eight months pregnant because he was embarrassed by her, police said.

NBC News reports Eduardo Arevalo, 19, killed his sister on December 16 because of family conflict.

The woman, 23-year-old Viridiana Arevalo, was found unconscious by police in an alley.

NBC said the teen is accused of moving his sister's body outside so that it would not be found. Arevalo told detectives he was embarrassed by his sister and did not think she would make a good mother.

After arguing with his sister on December 16, he thought that was the "time to murder her," and strangled her as she sat on the couch.

Arevalo is facing a count of tampering with evidence. Their brother, Diego Arevalo said he believes his brother is innocent.

"It doesn't make sense that my brother would do something like this. He was either set up or something happened," Diego Arevalo told NBC News.
