Agents arrest man with Meth at Highway 86

SALTON CITY, Calif. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)- A 22-year-old was arrested last Friday after allegedly carrying packages of methamphetamine in his vehicle.

The U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) said the 22-year-old man was arrested at the Highway 86 immigration checkpoint after a canine alerted to his vehicle.

Agents said the vehicle was sent to secondary inspection for further investigation.

While in secondary inspection, agents discovered 59 packages hidden inside the back seat and rocker panels of the vehicle.

CBP said the total weight of the narcotics was 62.30 pounds of methamphetamine with an estimated value of $118.370.

The man, a United States citizen, the narcotics and vehicle were turned over to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA).
