FIRST ALERT ACTION DAY: Tracking hotter and record temperatures by midweek
Tracking extreme heat and record breaking temperatures throughout the week. A Weather Authority First Alert Action Day is staying in effect for the Desert Southwest until 8 pm Saturday due to the continuing extreme heat.
YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA) - Happy Tuesday! It's been another hot and humid day. Tracking a warm and humid evening ahead.

An Extreme Heat Warning will stay in place until 8 p.m. Saturday for the Desert Southwest due to dangerously hot conditions.
Highs will be between 106-118 degrees, and overnight lows between 83-93 degrees.
This extreme heat warning is also in effect due to consistent heat for the next several days and no relief even at night.
We do have extreme heat risk this week, and what that means is anyone can be impacted by this heat. Plus, there is little to no relief from the hot weather even during our night and morning hours.
That is why it is important to practice heat safety all hours of the day.
High temperatures will be reaching 110+ every day this week as a ridge of high pressure will stay in place keeping us hot all week. We will also be trending in record territory as well.
I am tracking decreasing rain chances and lower humidity by the middle of the week.
Dew points will stay elevated for now, and we do have slight rain and storm chances into Wednesday.
I am tracking humidity and drier air to move back in. It will be hot all week, but at least it won't be as humid for the second half of the week.
Even though dew points are trending lower we still have monsoonal moisture lingering around, which we do have chance for showers into Wednesday.
I will be watching for any possible afternoon showers come tomorrow. It's not going to be widespread and not every area will see rain. But if any storms do develop it could lead to heavy rain, flooding, and gusty winds.

Storm chances into the middle of the week and I am tracking drier conditions for Thursday. However, more storm chances are expected to increase by the weekend and we are finally in for some cooler temperatures early next week.
