Local dealership looks to do more for children in need

Bill Alexander Flightline Mazda-Mitsubishi adopts children in foster care

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT). Many things can describe the Desert Southwest; warm summers, abundance of clear skies and a rich agriculture are at the top of the list. But, huddled among those traits is one accolade that continues to be constant. The communities' overwhelming desire to help those less fortunate.

Yet another act of kindness comes from a local auto group who prides itself in being more than just a business, they see themselves as a members of the community. For the past few weeks the showroom at Bill Alexander's Flightline Mazda-Mitsubishi weren't displaying their latest model. But, instead in the center of their showroom stood a majestic tree wrapped in red and gold and a box overflowing with toys.

The dealership decided this year to adopt the Arizona Children's Association for the holidays. Through the efforts of their employees and the community they were able to collect toys which in turn will be given to children currently in foster care. AZCA provides services for children in foster care; from the initial report, separation and foster home placement, the agency handles the child's care.

Being separated from your home and support system and placed in a stranger's home can be traumatic for a child. So, when businesses and community members like Flightline Mazda-Mitsubishi come together they can show a child that their community cares. Foster children range in ages from infancy to just before their 18th birthday. AZCA also certifies foster parents, and assists in family reunification and adoptions.
