Cibola wins Academic Decathlon City Scrimmage

YUHSD
Cibola High School

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) - Cibola High School finished first in this year's Yuma Academic Decathlon City scrimmage.

Held on the Cibola campus, the event included about 90 participants from the Yuma Union High School District (YUHSD).

The students competed in 10 catagories, revolving around this year's theme, "Illness and Wellness."

The following is the placement of the High Schools based on scoring, though it is important to note that Kofa and San Luis did not have complete teams:

  1. Cibola
  2. Gila Ridge
  3. Yuma
  4. Kofa
  5. San Luis

Over 60 volunteers from the Yuma community and YUHSD assisted with judging, proctoring, and scoring the two-day event, lasting from December 6-7.

Cibola high will also host the Region 3 Acadmic decathlon competition on January 31, 2020.

Over 90 volunteers are needed for the event, so a volunteer sign-up form will be released by the school in the future.
