13 arrested, smugglers drive through hole made on the border wall
CALEXICO, Calif. (KYMA, KSWT, T3)
Two cars were able to get through the border wall fence after cutting part of the fence open.
The illegal crossing happened Friday, about 6 miles west of the Calexico West Port of Entry.
The El Centro Sector Border Patrol says two cars entered into Calexico through a hole that was cut. The drivers then tried going back to Mexicali once they saw border patrol agents.
Border Patrol says one of the cars successfully entered into Mexicali. That car had seven passengers and a driver.
Border Patrol says the second car got stuck in the mud and was unable to get back to Mexicali.
Agents were able to apprehend thirteen passengers in the second car.
Border Patrol says all thirteen were adults and did not have documents to be in the U.S. legally.
