Kofa students to create Somerton sign

New City of Somerton sign

SOMERTON - (KYMA, KSWT, KECY)-The welding students from Kofa High School have been asked by the City of Somerton to design and create a Somerton sign.

The sign is hoped to be done by March. The Mayor of Somerton and the City Manager both came together with this idea to welcome visitors to their beautiful city and residents back home.

The Kofa High School welding class has worked on big projects like this before, one for the airport and another for the city of Yuma.

Creating this sign will be integrated into teaching the students.

Christopher Smart, the welding instructor said he lets the students do all the work from start to finish and just advises when it's needed.

He also works to have 100% participation from all students in all classes.
