SAN LUIS, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, FOX 9) - In this week’s Cracking the Case News 11 heads to San Luis, Arizona.

A Mexican man was murdered less than a mile from the border back in 2004.

15 years later San Luis police (SLPD) have not been able to find the person that killed him.

Border Patrol agents found him behind me at the Salinity canal on County 22nd Street in San Luis.

Andres Renteria Martinez was shot several times— in the hip, stomach, chest, and hands.

His body was dragged from one spot to the next, according to SLPD.

But, officers found interesting evidence that might point to Renteria Martinez being on the other side of the law.

"A pair of binoculars, again there was a revolver that was found with no bullets that were actually found right there located where we believe the actual murder occurred. There was a lot of water bottles found around the area where it is commonly patrolled by the U.S. Border patrol,” said Lt. Marco Santana.

Officers also have Renteria Martinez’s phone as evidence.

To this day, there are no leads as to who murdered the then 28-year-old man.

If you have any information on this murder you are asked to call San Luis Police at (928) 341-2420.
