Man suspected of illegally crossing into Arizona

LUKEVILLE, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) A U.S. Border Patrol agent has shot and injured a Russian national suspected of crossing the border illegally into Arizona.

Agents say they tried to take the man into custody Thursday just east of Lukeville.  That's about 300-miles southeast of Yuma.

They say the man resisted arrest, a fight followed, and an agent ultimately opened fire.

The Russian was airlifted to a Phoenix hospital.  No information is available on his condition. The agent involved was not seriously hurt.
