Man leads DPS on a chase near I-8 Highway

UPDATE (1:35 P.M.)

YUMA, Ariz. (KYMA, KSWT, KECY) The DPS pursuit was sparked by the suspect allegedly traveling about 100 miles per hour down Interstate 8. 

Troopers said they were able to locate the suspect, but he wouldn't yield and hit another car. DPS said he tried to flee on foot.

The suspect tried to flee but was unsuccessful and is now in custody, according to DPS.

UPDATE (11:34 A.M.) 

Interstate 8 will be closed at Avenue 3E for the next four hours, according to the Yuma Police Department. It added drivers will have to exit the freeway at that point.

We are receiving reports that the Department of Public Safety (DPS) captured a man near the Harley Davidson store near the highway on the I-8 Wednesday.

According to reporters on the scene, there is police activity and ambulances.

Reports said the man was running westbound I-8 when DPS requested the Yuma Police Department's assistance.

As of now, we are still waiting for local law enforcement agencies to know the extent of the incident.
