It was at the beginning of fiscal year 2019 when the Yuma sector saw an increase in the crossing of migrants, positioning itself as the third busiest sector in the entire southern border of the United States.

The Yuma Sector said El Paso came in as the first busiest sector while  Rio Grand came in second.

According to the Chief of the Border Patrol,  an average of hundreds of migrants mostly from Central America have been apprehended with the help of Mexican authorities that have reinforced their borders. Border Patrol said these numbers have recently declined significantly in the last fiscal year of 2019.

The month of May had the highest number of crossings in this region, according to the Border Patrol.

What caused the opening of a processing center in the Border Patrol facilities, last June where migrant families were staying.

The processing center continues to operate, however, less than 100 migrants are currently inside.

The complete data that was shared by Border Patrol will be shared this afternoon with News 11.
