Imperial County task force could be on their way home soon

The Imperial County Task Force that was sent to help battle the Kincaid fire in northern California could soon be coming home.

Fire officials said that as of Sunday over seventy percent of the fire has been contained thanks in part to the mutual aid from first responders in and around the state.

The task force consisted of five units and over twenty personnel have been responsible for mopping up, searching for hotspots and adding hose lines to the containment line.

Battalion Chief Juan Rodelo , of the Imperial County Fire Department said that they’ll know in a day or two if the need for the task force still remains.

” They’re coming up on the fourteen-day mark which is the maximum allowed. If there’s a need for those resources we will send out a crew to relieve those personnel that is assigned. ”

Rodelo said morale among the task force is high even though the crew just came off the line after spending twenty-four hours battling fires.
