Argument leads to gunfire at California school

An argument between two students leads to gunfire outside a Northern California high school.

It happened just before nine Tuesday morning at Ridgway High School in Santa Rosa. The high school and a nearby junior college both went to lockdown within minutes of the shooting.

Santa Rose police say a 17-year-old suspect is accused of opening fire on a 16-year-old boy. Officers arrested him on suspicion of attempted murder.

The 16-year-old victim was shot twice. He’s in stable condition.

Police say the shooting was an isolated incident, and there’s no indication any further violence was planned.

Police are still searching for the handgun involved in the shooting.
