AZ high school bans all backpacks

Students at an Arizona high school will not be allowed to carry regular backpacks in an effort to increase student safety.

According to the district website the Douglas Unified School District is launching a clear bag policy. Students are only allowed with clear tote bags, clear plastic storage-type bags and clear small wallet-sized bags.

The policy will be enforced on Monday, the District announced in a <a href="https://“>Facebook Post. ” Any item that does not meet approved criteria shall be confiscated and returned at the end of the day, ” the post said.

Students are prohibited from carrying any sort of backpack, including clear backpacks, fanny packs, mesh bags, and tinted plastic bags.

This announcement comes after last Wednesday, when the school was placed on lockdown after reports of a possible gun on campus, though no weapon was found.
