Homeless murders still unsolved after 20-years

In this week’s Cracking the Case, News 11 digs into the brutal murders of two homeless men dating back to 1983.

Police said a person walking their dog found 29-year-old Richard Perry and 44-year old Russell White dead in an area just north of 1st Street and 1st Avenue.

At the time, some water tanks and some railroad tracks dominated the area. Now it’s part of a bike path.

Officers say they were able to recover some fingerprints from the scene.

” A lot of people were interviewed. A lot of people had suspected, it could’ve been this person. It could’ve been that person. But there was never anybody they could link to the evidence, ” said Sgt. Lori Franklin

YPD says one witness was able to draw this sketch of a person who may have had something to do with the murders. The suspect’s described as a heavy set white man about five foot 8 inches tall with brown eyes.

If you have any information on this thirty-six-year-old cold case you are asked to call the Yuma Police Department. Or, to stay anonymous you can call 78-CRIME.
