Detective discusses evidence during Gardea trial

A detective takes the stand to discuss the evidence against a Yuma man accused of murder.

John Gardea is accused of gunning down Edward Rowland in June 2018 after an argument over the sale of some tools. He faces charges of first degree murder and aggravated assault

Gardea’s defense claims he fired accidentally. Prosecutors say he plotted the killing.

On Thursday, Yuma Police detective Jesse Escott described finding Edward Rowland’s body.

He also told jurors about the articles found during a search of Gardea’s Nissan Altima .

The trial continues next week.
