Countdown begins for REAL ID

The countdown is underway and in exactly 250 business days you will need a REAL ID to board commercial flights.

October 2020 is the exact time when this goes into effect, all passengers older than 18 that go through TSA security checkpoints must-have either a REAL ID or a passport to board.

In order for you to obtain a REAL ID you do have to provide valid proof of identities like a birth certificate or passport. You must also have a social security number and two documents that prove your state residency like a utility bill, lease agreement or mortgage bill.

State and airport officials are advising that now is the time to obtain your real I-d

“So now we are under a year before you have to have this before you travel,” said Gen Grosse from Yuma International Airport. “So if you haven’t completed this process by October 2020 you will not be able to fly unless you have your passport.”

Aside from boarding flights, you will also need a REAL ID to enter any federal facilities like military bases.

CA Department of Vehicles, as well as Arizona Motor Vehicle Divisions, are expecting a huge influx of people in the upcoming months. So to ease the influx there are several third-party locations where you can obtain your REAL ID.

For more information or to initiate the process visit www.aztravelid.com and then make an appointment at any MVD location through www.servicearizona.com. Select third party MVD offices are also offering AZ Travel ID service.
