Death of a 4 month old baby girl unsolved 26 years later

In this week’s Cracking the Case, News 11 digs into the suspicious death of a baby girl who died at just four months old.

Baby Breann was rushed to the hospital after she stopped breathing in 1993.

” Breann was a twin. Two twin girls, they were born premature, underweight. They were sent home to young parents. Mom was 18 at the time, dad was 22 and a Marine, ” explained Sergeant Lori Franklin, Yuma Police Department.

Baby Breann died after being flown to a Phoenix-area hospital.

” When an autopsy was done, they found bleeding on the brain. They found some fractures to the ribs that had healed, ” said Sgt. Franklin.

YPD said that is when it became clear the death wasn’t from natural causes.

” Multiple interviews again with the parents, with grandparents, with friends, neighbors. There’s a lot of interviews in there and again, a lot of things just didn’t seem right, ” said Sgt. Franklin.

One person was considered a suspect, but the county attorney, at the time, chose not to run with the charges.

If you have any information on the death of Breann , you are asked to call the YPD or to stay anonymous call 78-CRIME.
