Arizona woman sentenced for death of 4-year-old son

A Tucson woman will spend 25-years in prison for killing her four-year-old son with table salt.

Ashley Castro pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in July. A judge sentenced her Monday.

Police arrested Castro in November 2015 after her young son died at a hospital.

Investigators say she admitted to giving her son the mixture of salt and water she used as mouthwash.

Police say the high level of sodium put the child in critical condition, causing hemorrhages and strokes.

Castro will receive credit for the 667 days she has already spent in custody.
