A fatal crash on Highway 111 near Cole Road in Calexico resulted in the death of two people and seven injured on Saturday afternoon.

Officer Ib Teran said, ” Officers responded to the south side of the twenty-three hundredth block of one-eleven. There were multiple vehicles involved in a traffic collision. ”

Teran said the driver of a car going northbound on Highway 111 lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic going southbound hitting three other cars.

” Two persons unfortunately lost their lives. One was a 42-year-old male. And the other one was a 31-year-old male, ” Teran said.

The driver of the car which crossed the middle lane was a Calexico resident.

The other victim of the crash was a male passenger in another car. He was from out of town. Police have not released the names of the victims.

” One of the deceased, he was a special needs person. Unfortunately, he lost his life, ” Teran said.
