Yuma County Library events week of September 9

Interested in learning Spanish? Beginning Monday, September 9th , the Main Library will host ” Mango After Dark: Spanish ” a free nine-week class at the Main Library. The class will meet in the 2nd floor classroom on Mondays from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. through November 4th . Using Mango, the library’s language-learning software, students will learn basic grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation, and Latin American culture.

There is no charge to attend; however, students must have a valid library card and sign up for a Mango Languages account before the first session. For assistance, visit the Main Library or call (928) 373-6482.

The Main Library is located at 2951 S 21st Drive.

On Wednesday, September 11th , the Somerton Library will host a presentation about the City of Somerton Animal Control Division at 3:00 p.m. Learn more about the tasks Animal Control officers perform, including everything from lost pets to animal cruelty cases. There is no charge to attend.

In observance of Hispanic Heritage Month, the San Luis Library will host “Origins: Mi Mexico Diverso ,” their 6th Annual Art Exhibition featuring the artwork of local artists, from September 12th through October 18th , 2019.

The public is invited to a grand opening ceremony at 1075 N 6th Avenue on Thursday, September 12th , at 5:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served. There is no charge to attend.

“Origins: Mi Mexico Diverso ” is a collaboration of Arizona Western College, Museo Regional de San Luis, Rio Colorado, Sonora, Mexican Consulate and the San Luis Library. For more information, call (928) 627-8344.
