High school students visit El Centro Border Patrol station

Central Union High School students in Legal Services and Law Academy programs toured the El Centro Border Patrol station last week.

From September 4-6, approximately 85 sophomores visited the station that included a tour of the border. They also received an El Centro Sector profile presentation where students were provided with an insight on a career in Border Patrol, and how agents are responsible for operating 70-miles along the United States and Mexico border.

Agents say they took students to the border and gave them ” sign cutting ” demonstrations for students to get an understanding how agents use tracking skills, exposed the students to different terrains patrolled by agents, and were shown how infrastructure and technology play a role in securing the nation’s border.

“We are very thankful for the professional relationship we have with the Border Patrol,” said CUHS Law Academy Instructor Robert Smith. “The information and tours provided to our students contributes greatly to their interests in pursuing a path towards a career in law enforcement.”
