A Phoenix woman is facing child abuse charges after her son and daughter told school officials she beat them with a hammer.
The Arizona Republic reports Asha Mohamed was arrested Monday following an investigation that began last month follow tales from the children about beatings while their hands and feet were bound together with rope.
Court documents show that a 14-year-old girl and 13-year-old boy had told a school official that 35-year-old Mohamed physically abused them for the past six years.
Officials say Mohamed is a teacher at the Zion Early Learning Academy in Phoenix.
The girl says Mohamed struck her hand with the hammer on a separate occasion until it became crooked.
Mohamed is being held on $25,000 bond. It’s not known if she has an attorney.
