Mexicali woman hospitalized after drinking tea laced with bleach

A Mexicali woman was hospitalized after drinking a Fuze Tea beverage suspected to be laced with bleach Monday evening.

According to the Mexicali newspaper, El Imparcial, a 40-year-old woman purchased the bottled tea from a convenience store and felt a burning sensation while she drank the beverage.

The woman, who is now stable, suffered injuries and will have an endoscopy done to see what type of damages she suffered.

Both the woman and the doctors stated the drink had a strong scent of bleach, the publication said.

The bottled teas sold at the location were confiscated and are now under investigation by the Baja California Secretary of Health.
