Ramp closures, lane restrictions on Interstate 8 to begin this week

The Arizona Department of Transportation is advising drivers to plan ahead for ramp closures and lane restrictions on Interstate 8 in Yuma County.

Contractors are set to strip the roadway and do related work as part of the Interstate 8 pavement treatment project between Yuma and Maricopa counties.

The following restrictions will occur daily near Dateland from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, and Thursday, April 4.

I-8 will be narrowed to one lane in both directions between milepost 66 and milepost 72. The eastbound I-8 off- and on-ramps at Avenue 64E (Exit 67) will close intermittently while crews move through the work zone. The westbound I-8 off- and on-ramps at Avenue 64 E (Exit 67) will close intermittently while crews move through the work zone. A 12-foot vehicle-width restriction will be in place. Drivers can use an alternate route, such as Aztec Road (Exit 73) via Highway 80. Motorists should allow extra travel time and plan for possible delays while work is underway.
