Man arrested for allegedly trying to kill his wife

A 35-year-old Calexico resident is behind bars for allegedly trying to kill his wife. Police arrested Christian Bell after a domestic dispute.

The victim went to Calexico police where she received treatment for her injuries from fire department paramedics. The victim is believed to have been strangled by Bell.

Police said Bell was arrested Monday evening on Highway 98 near Andrade Avenue. Bell was in the backseat of a car believed to be heading towards the border.

Detective Armando Orozco said, “The vehicle left. One of the parents stayed home while one was driving. There was a second person seen in the back seat of the vehicle. That undercover unit called for a patrol unit to show up and conduct a traffic enforcement stop on that vehicle.”

Bell is being charged with attempted homicide, false imprisonment, and making criminal threats.
