Man accused of luring minor for sex takes plea agreement

The man accused of trespassing inside a Yuma home and luring a minor for sex took a plea agreement in a Yuma courtroom Wednesday.

Chad Edward Diener, 42, pleaded guilty in front of Judge Brandon Kinsey to two separate charges related to the case. The charges include luring a minor for sex and burglary.

Diener, who is still in custody, could face a maximum of 24 years in prison.

Diener faces a maximum of 15 years for luring a minor for sex. The burglary charge could add an additional two to 8.75 years in prison.

As part of the plea agreement, Diener would have to register as a sex offender for life and probation would be available.

During Wednesday’s court proceedings, the court did not publicly read the factual data of the crimes Diener is accused of, but the mother’s victim was in court to present a victim statement.

“My daughter is young but she’s strong,” her mother said to Judge Kinsey. “We just want it over,” she added.

Police said the incident happened the morning of June 5, 2018.

“Police were called, we located him in the area,” Sgt. Lori Franklin with the Yuma Police Department said. “He was arrested and booked reference trespass and soliciting sex.”

Diener’s sentencing is set for December 19.
