SB 1-funded road repairs continue

In less than two years, the City of El Centro has made road improvements thanks to a combined one million dollars from the new SB 1 gas tax funding.

Projects that benefited from this funding include the La Brucherie Avenue road widening project along Main Street, the just awarded La Brucherie Avenue overlay north of Adams Avenue, and the Ross Avenue overlay east of Dogwood Avenue.

The city is expected to receive $750,000 in additional funding per year from SB 1, according to city officials. This averages a 50 percent increase towards the annual maintenance budget for the streets in El Centro.

With the SB 1 gas tax only funding transportation projects, the city will be able to invest more towards street overlays, renewing street signs, and improving traffic flow.
