Fishing at the PAAC pond is now open

Calling all fishing enthusiasts, the Pacific Avenue Athletic Complex just added another amenity to their growing facility. The PAAC pond now allows access to those that want to fish.

The grand opening took place on September 29th and it is officially part of the Arizona Game and Fish Community Fishing Program.

Arizona Game and Fish recently stocked the pond with about 500 pounds of channel catfish and it is open for fishing all throughout the day and night up until 11:00 pm.

“We are really excited to be a part of this community fishing program, which approximately seven to eight times throughout the year. Arizona Game and Fish will come and stock this pond. From November to March they’ll be stocking it with rainbow trout and then right after March they’ll be stocking it with channel catfish and they will also be putting in some bluegill,” said Debbie Wendt, Parks and Recreation Director.

In order to fish at the PAAC pond, one must have an Arizona state fishing license that can be obtained by a person 10 years or older. While the city does encourage the catch and release method, people are allowed to take home what they have caught.

The city also wants to make sure that people know not to bring any wildlife to the pond. Additional wildlife may go after the natural food source put in place for the fish that are already there.
