Pet safety tips to consider as Rosa continues

The Humane Society of Yuma is asking Yuma County residents and visitors to think about their family pets during Hurricane Rosa’s thunder and strong winds.

HSOY wants to remind the community of a few things:

Take preventative measures: Ensure gates and doors are secured. Pets are wearing identification Microchip information is up to date and accurate Wear name tag with contact informatio License Protect them from the sound Play calming music If your pets are primarily outdoors, protect them from the potential flash floods and keep them dry and warm. Create a safe place indoors. If you’ve lost your pet: Please look for your pet at the shelter first. Post on Social Media public pages Post on FindingRover.com If you found a stray pet: Bring them to the Humane Society of Yuma. We will scan animals for a microchip and attempt to reunite pets with their owners. Take photos and post on FindingRover.com It is very common for pets to run when in distress and the HSOY is urging residents to provide a safe shelter for animals during this severe weather.
