Police: No devices found after reports of a bomb at school district

UPDATE:

Somerton School District Superintendent Laura Noel has sent out a statement in regards to the investigation conducted on Thursday.

The following was said:

“We would like to thank Somerton Police Department for their support and care for our students and staff yesterday afternoon. They quickly advised us and began taking appropriate action to protect our students. The school staff was very comforted by their presence on all the campuses at the beginning of the situation. They helped to manage when necessary and kept people and traffic under control.

We would also like to thank Border Patrol, the Arizona Department of Transportation and the Military Police Canine Unit. The Canine Unit searched each campus after the evacuation so that we could confidently return to classes today.

The safety of our children and staff are priority in these situations. We will continue to refine our practices based on what did and did not work. Thank you for your support and comments as we continue to refine our practice.”
