YPD: Man attacks officers, flees with cop’s gun during struggle

A man is wanted after attacking two police officers and stealing an officer’s gun during a struggle on Friday, according to the Yuma Police Department.

Officers located 41-year-old Ralph Sivyer, who was wanted on multiple felony charges from prior cases at around 11:10 p.m. in the 2000 block of South 11th Avenue. Officers attempted to stop Sivyer from fleeing in his vehicle but the officers suffered from injuries.

Police said Sivyer got a hold of a YPD M&P nine millimeter handgun and fled the scene with it. Sivyer was driving a 1999 Nissan Maxima when he fled officers.

He is also known for driving a 2004 red Chevrolet Avalanche.

Sivyer is a prohibited possessor and is known to be armed.

YPD is encouraging anyone with any information about this case to please call the Yuma Police Department Special Operations Group at (928) 373-4675 or 78-Crime at (928) 782-7463 to remain anonymous. Remember, if your information leads to an arrest you may receive up to a $1,000 cash reward. In addition, the Yuma Police Department is also offering up to a $2,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest in this case.
