Local students design website for those in agriculture

In this week’s Home Grown segment we take a look at a group of students from The University of Arizona in Yuma who are bringing one of their final projects to life and it could really benefit the agriculture community.

It’s called “Ag Mapp,” a virtual database to help growers answer questions like when was the field last treated for pesticides? Or when was the field last fertilized?

13 On Your Side spoke to the project manager, Robert Wilson who is a U of A student at the Arizona Western College branch.

“This is an agriculture website that allows users to share information about a field, very efficiently and very easily … so here we have our main login page, our users can map out the acreage of a field very easily,” he explained.

Four students teamed up and created this idea and presented it to experts in our local Ag community. This website is like one stop shopping for the growers, agronomists, field workers and everyone in between that works with produce in the fields.

After three months of designing and creating, the website is now in full effect.
