Phoenix police: 2 pedestrians seriously hurt when hit by SUV

Authorities say two pedestrians were seriously injured when an SUV turning into a gas station struck them before crashing into the building.

Sgt. Jonathan Howard says neither speed nor impairment appear to be factors in the crash that occurred early Wednesday morning at North 43rd Avenue and West Thomas Road.

Howard says the two men who were struck are listed in stable and critical conditions.

A Fire Department spokesman says the occupants of the SUV didn’t report any injuries.
