Residential fire reported at 14th Place

One man is left picking up the pieces after a fire tore through his home.

Rural Metro received multiple 911 calls of reports that there was a trailer home on fire in the area of Pacific Avenue and East 14th Place.

“When we arrived on scene in the area of 14th place we did find a trailer on fire with multiple exposures meaning other residents surrounding it,” said Charly Mcmurdie with Rural Metro.

Thankfully the homeowner made it out safe with minor injuries but everything he own’s is now gone.

“Well I’ve lived here for six to seven years and he’s lived there. So one time I gave him a ride to Wal-Mart, he told me I believe he told me he was a retired mechanic and he was a Veteran as well. So hopefully he was able to get some help,” said neighbor Xochilt Torres.

McMurdie says the fire has been deemed as a cooking accident.

“We quickly went to work to knock down the fire. They had it knocked down fairly quickly,” said McMurdie.

Residents in the area have planned a neighborhood cleanup for Saturday, March 10, 2018 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m to help the Veteran. If you’d like to help in any way, please contact Corey Cooper (928) 257-5647.
