Yuma Sector Border Patrol agent rescues Honduran national

A Yuma Sector Border Patrol agent rescued a Honduran national from drowning along the Colorado River near Yuma Sunday evening.

An agent responded to a call reporting an individual running from the International Boundary towards the Salinity Canal.

The individual jumped into the canal north of the County 9th Street Bridge. The agent found the 25-year-old man clinging to the side of the canal in the fast-moving water and deployed a rescue bag to pull the man to safety.

The man, identified as a Honduran national previously deported from the United States in 2017, did not require medical attention and was arrested for processing.
