El Centro mayor presents State of the City Address

El Centro Mayor Cheryl Viegas-Walker held her annual State of the City Address Thursday.

It was a night of celebrations as they recognized those that made a difference in the community.

Mayor Cheryl Viegas-Walker spoke and said, “I asked the city manager, and I asked the department heads, I want you to tell me your stories. I want you to tell me about the champion. The champion is not only in your department, but our community champions.”

At the State of the City Address, the mayor showcased her vision of enhancing the city with a focus of beautifying El Centro with the removal of graffiti, community development for the homeless and providing more spaces their residences as well as seeing the construction of a new aquatic center among many other things.
