Interstate 8 closed in both directions east of Gila Bend



Law enforcement officials closed both directions of Interstate 8 at milepost 135 east of Gila Bend, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

The closure is due to a police incident. There is no estimated reopening time.

Eastbound motorists may detour by taking northbound State Route 85 in Gila Bend to eastbound Interstate 10. I-10 intersects with I-8 at milepost 199 east of Casa Grande.

Westbound motorists may detour by taking northbound State Route 84, which is south of Maricopa, to northbound State Route 347 to westbound I-10 through the Valley. They can then take southbound SR 85 to re-enter I-8 at Gila Bend.
