Local filmmakers learn from Hollywood pros

Local filmmakers and community got a chance to talk and mingle with some of Hollywood stunt doubles, screenwriters, producers, and independent filmmakers. This at imperial valley’s sixth annual film festival and artists showcase held at The Movies in Imperial on Friday and Saturday. Locals screened their short films and music videos alongside international works. Organizers said the festival promotes local talent and the area for future film works from international producers.

Imperial County Film Commission Director Charla Teeters-Stewart said, “The reason we hold this film festival really is to encourage our local filmmakers. And to give them exposure to other filmmakers. We have international filmmakers. We have semi-professional filmmakers. And, also the workshops that we’re holding give them a chance to explore new skills and possibly even new ideas as to what they might want to do in the future.”

This year’s winners are:

THE MAN FROM JALISCO, PART 2 – Best Imperial Valley Filmmaker

MILES – 2 ND Place Tie
