Nogales CBP officers arrest man smuggling $458K in heroin

U.S. Customs and Border Protection officers at the Nogales Port of Entry arrested a man attempting to smuggle 26 pounds of heroin on Tuesday morning.

Officers from the Dennis DeConcini crossing referred a 28-year-old Tucson resident driving a Saturn SUV while attempting to enter the U.S.

A CBP narcotics detection canine alerted officers to the Saturn’s front bumper where 26 pounds of heroin were found.

The narcotics are worth more than $458,000.

Officers arrested the suspect for narcotics smuggled and was turned over to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement’s Homeland Security Investigations.

CBP officers also seized the vehicle and drugs.
