A Space Exhibit is making it’s way to the Desert Southwest

A major space exhibit is making it’s way to Yuma. I t’s set to make its debut at The Yuma Main Library and beside the library itself being pretty amazing, having been built just 8 years ago, the space exhibit is sure to impress locals all around.

The library was selected as one of eight sites nationwide to host the exhibit called “Discover Space: A Cosmic Journey.” The exhibit is meant to inform those of all ages about science and our atmosphere. The exhibit is part of a Science‐Technology Activities and Resources Library Education Network, also known as “STAR-Net”. This network partnered with the American Library Association to create a grant. A competitive process, that took lots of time, this was a grant that the library applied for. Sarah Wisdom, the community relations manager for the Yuma county library district explains what the public can expect on M onday . “It’s a really fun all ages interactive exhibit, there are some static pieces, kind of like what’s behind me here. Panels with information, but we also have a lot of interactive components as well. There’s lots of hands on- ‘you don’t have to worry if you bring your kids, don’t touch that, don’t move, don’t breathe on that’ it’s absolutely hands on, for parents, students educators. Everybody can enjoy this exhibit,” said Wisdom. Don’t miss your chance to check it out, it’s only open for a limited time, debuting Monday , S eptember 18th at 2pm thru December 8th. It is free and open to the public during library hours, which are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Friday through Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. T hose who attend will be treated to a friendly welcome and light refreshments.
