Traffic-control changes at Interstate 8 and Araby Road

As ADOT crews continue the interchange improvement project at I-8 and Araby Road, drivers are advised to use alternate routes as several changes are implemented in the work zone.

Paving is occurring on Araby Road north of I-8 on Tuesday, Sept. 5th. When paving is complete on Wednesday, Sept. 6th, traffic will be shifted away from the critical construction zone at the northern roundabout and the existing temporary traffic signals will be removed. The westbound I-8 on-ramp at Araby Road is scheduled to reopen on Wednesday, Sept. 6th. Left turns from northbound Araby Road to westbound I-8 will be restricted. Drivers should use alternate routes, such as US 95 or 24th Street. The westbound I-8 off-ramp at Araby Road is scheduled to close until mid-October on Wednesday, Sept. 6th. Drivers can use Avenue 3E as an alternate route. ADOT is maintaining one lane of travel in both directions on Araby Road as crews build the first roundabout north of I-8. Construction of the second roundabout south of I-8 is scheduled to begin in spring 2018.

Work is being completed in two phases to minimize impacts to winter visitors and peak produce seasons. The project is scheduled to be completed next fall.
