The Humane Society of Imperial County gets much needed help

The Humane Society of Imperial County received some much needed help this week.

Two organizations from the San Diego area visited to help with the harsh conditions the animals are facing.

Thrive Animal Rescue and Rescue Express braced the hot temperatures to lend a helping hand on Tuesday.

15 dogs and 4 kittens were taken from the shelter in hopes to find “furever homes.”

The humane society hopes that locals will gain an interest in helping the animals and the conditions at the shelter. They are also very grateful for the help received so far.

“Our mission is to pull dogs, take them home, get them adopted. But also help this shelter in particular, get a good building, get the air conditioning that they need, get the things they need to house their dogs,” said Cece Durante, Founder of Thrive Animal Rescue.

“One of the things we are hoping is that with our community seeing that it’s gotten to the point that we’re having to bring people outside of our community to help the animals,” said Devon Apodaca, Director of Humane Society of Imperial County.

The humane society is always looking for volunteers and donations, if you are interested in doing so, you can head to https://www.facebook.com/humanesociety.imperialcounty/.
