YPG Change of Command Ceremony

It’s an army tradition that’s been done for hundreds of years. This morning Col. Randy Murray completed his three-year assignment and transferred his command to his successor, Col. Ross Poppenberger. “As officers and as leaders in the military,we all know that after a period of time of two-three years of command it is time to transition”,says Murray.
Poppenberger is looking forward to take over the position and to make an impact on Yuma Proving Ground and the community of Yuma. “Twenty eight years, you know who would’ve thought, and you know to be back in Arizona, it’s amazing. The reputation that YPG has, I put it first. The whole team approach is the most important and we really want to focus on what we can do for the community and continue to do the succesful things YPG does.”

It’s becoming a leader for one of the Department of Defense’s largest holders. Poppenberger tells us,

“People here are dedicated to the mission. The people aren’t in Yuma because they have to be in Yuma, they’re here because they want to be here and you know they’re dedicated to what they do.”
