American Airlines cancels flights due to Arizona heat
With intense temperatures coming to the Desert Southwest, there has been an abundance of flight cancelations. On Monday, American Airlines said that 43 flights have been canceled coming in and out of Sky Harbor Airport in Phoenix on both Monday and Tuesday.
This even affects one flight from Phoenix to the Yuma International Airport.
According to American Airlines, aircrafts, Bombardier CRJs, serve regional airports such as Yuma and Tucson. They can only withstand outside temperatures of 118 degrees.
American Airlines has reached out to accommodate passengers, including a 3 p.m. flight from Phoenix to Yuma scheduled for Tuesday. They were given the option to arrive to Yuma by bus. Others have been given the option to reschedule their flight or receive a full refund.
