Holtville gets ready for Christmas tree lighting

The city of holtville is ready to kick off their Christmas festivities this week.

For the fifth year in a row the Holtville Fire Department will light up the city Christmas tree. The city of Holtville teams up with the fire department every year for this community event. The Christmas tree will be placed at the city hall gazebo.

The mayor will be the one who lights up the tree Thursday. Fire Chief Alex Silva says this event is the perfect way to kick start their holiday season.

“It promotes the area so that the kids can enjoy. Nick and I were little and would come to this park. The city and the chamber do a Christmas in the park but we decided to start lighting up the park so we do it the first day of December that way it stays lit the whole time,” said Silva.

The event is Thursday at the Holtville city hall park at 6 p.m.
