With election day behind us, some may be wondering what is to be done about the political signs.

While election season is over, those who ran for office are responsible for removing their campaign propaganda from the streets.

In imperial county, all election campaign signage must be taken down by next Wednesday, November 23rd ;15 days after election day. Any sign that remains 20 days after the end of the campaign will be subject to a fine of $50 dollars per day. This ordinance applies to all property within the unincorporated areas of the county.

All candidates are sent a letter from the imperial county planning and development office, reminding them of this. Each city has different ordinances. In El Centro candidates have 14 days after the elections to remove their signs.
