Calexico businessman wants to recover stolen property

Calexico businessman Jose Martinez wants to look at the stolen property list police have regarding items found in a Calexico storage complex. Police found thousands of dollars of alleged stolen property in two Calexico storage lockers, a motel room, and in a car that allegedly belonged to a man identified as Calexico resident Raul Mejia. Police identified Mejia from surveillance video and arrested him.

Martinez said on Monday of last week he discovered his auto shop had been burglarized. He said he lost new equipment for Mercedes Benz cars, two-way radios, cell phones, and credit cards among other items. He hopes to recover his property if it’s part of the items found in Mejia’s storage locker.

“My tools that were stolen are new. They are not cheap tools. They are specialized tools for Mercedes Benz cars. They are no good for anybody else, only if they work with Mercedes Benz cars. They are expensive tools,” Martinez said.

Raul Mejia was arrested for the alleged stolen property, but is currently free on bail and police are looking for him for further questioning.
