30 pooches getting ready to fly need your help

The Humane Society of Imperial County is asking the community for help in transporting 30 of their adorable pooches.

Due to an increase in pet population at the shelter, the Humane Society has partnered with Wings of Rescue to transport the pups to a rescue shelter in Washington State called The Noah Center.

Shelter Staff in Imperial County say having this many animals this time of year is not the usual case.

“This year we had an abnormally high number of people wanting turn in their pets or people losing their pets and not going to animal control and looking for them and claiming them. So for the first time in a very long time, during this time of the year, our numbers are much higher than they normally are. From start to finish it’s about a seven hour, eight hour process,” said Devon Apodaca, Director of The Humane Society in Imperial County.

The shelter will be begin their transportation for the pups tomorrow and says many more transportations are to come.

The Humane Society in Imperial County has a promise to its animals that they will not euthanize due to impacted space or time restraints.
