San Luis Film Festival Returns!

Pop some popcorn and grab a seat, the San Luis Film Festival is back in town featuring independent films from the region and international.

The San Luis Film Festival is celebrating their fifth year bringing in bigger audiences and special guests. Antonio Carillo, is one of the co founders of the festival and has been apart of the festival since the beginning.

“It started about five years ago, when Arizona became one hundred years old, and it became apart of the celebration here in Arizona.”

Javier Jara, is a fan of the festival, and looks forward to the films every year-especially the movies you can’t find anywhere else.

Jara tells us, “You can see how the community, at first they didn’t know what it was about, it was something beginning. As the years has been passing it’s something that has been growing. The community looks forward to it.I highly recommend it, the movies sound really interesting and personally they’re really great movies.”

Some of these films get great exposure at these festivals, and even become award winning.

Carillo says, “Many of the films that we have presented from the past, have got into winning awards in Mexico. They got into winning the Ariel’s which is equivalent to the Oscars in Mexico.”

Opening night is tonight at the Cesar Chavez Cultural Center at 6pm in San Luis. Click here for more information on the festival and the schedule.
